While the rest of the country deals with ice and snow, I drove to work with the car AC on low. It's going to be over 100 degrees for at least 10 months out of the year, why can't we at least get a break during winter? Okay, enough with the raving portion.
This morning I went to one of the TV stations to pick up a tape. I went to the front desk and the receptionist was so nice and friendly. She asked if she could help me and I told her I was there to pick up a tape. She smiled, looked through her stack of tapes and smiled while she handed me the tape. It was a very pleasant experience which made me think back to the days when I used to be a receptionist. I won't go into details, but the experience wouldn't have been as pleasant seven times out of 10. Now I just say mean things, but with a smile instead of a scowl. It really makes a difference.

It really is all about the smile. People don't know how to take it if you insult or harrass them while smiling. It's just confusing to them and funny to you.
Ah, you were never unpleasant to ME. And 9 times out of 10 the people deserved it. Ok, probably 10 times out of 10.
