I've been having problems with my cable reception for about the past couple of months. It started with BBC America. The screen was black, but when the picture would come back, it was choppy. It didn't bother me much because I've already seen those episodes of Doctor Who, so I forgot about it.
Last month I recorded something off PBS. Nothing recorded. The screen was black. Then R told me that TCM didn't have audio. I showed him how to reboot the cable/DVR box and forgot about it until Dan'l and I tried to watch Monk. I paused the show briefly, but when we tried to play it back, there was no audio. I had enough.
So I called the cable company and first of all, I don't understand why they need the last four digits of my husband's social security number. Maybe if I was calling to add stuff, then yes, ask me to verify, but to report a problem? "No, you can't have his SSN. I don't know it and I don't know how to get it. I broke into his house to watch TV and the cable reception sucks so I thought I'd call it in."
Sigh.
A tech came by and said the problem was with the box down the street, but I didn't see a change. Then Tuesday some weird characters started appearing on the box. I didn't do anything about it because I had to go to work, but when I got home, R was watching TV. I thought the box reset itself. I started watching something else and then the box turned off and started acting like it was possessed--weird numbers and characters flashing in the time display. I restarted it at least three times. The final one worked just as I got the CSR on the phone. She said that because it was working, there was nothing she could about it.
Double sigh.
My problems started all over again--no sound, no picture, weird characters in the time display--but got worse because I found out that the problem is most likely in my box (heh). And now they no longer carry DVRs; they only carry HD-DVRs and there's a waiting list for that. I don't have an HDTV, so that means I can't watch "24" while recording "Heroes." I can't record MA-rated movies while watching family-friendly shows with Dan'l. This is a sad day. It's the day my TV died.
Damn you TWC for giving me samples of the drugs that I've become addicted to and then snatching it away from me. Damn you. Damn you.

Maybe you report them to the BBB. I heard that went over really well for Karen. Yeah, I hate TWC. I wish there were a decent alternative.
Dude - it's freakin' karma. About 20 minutes after I posted my comment our cable went out. It's still not back. Totally sucks. Damn you TWC.
TWC is like big brother. They are monitoring our communications. They're out to get us.
Well, at least you don't have Comcast. Here in Chicago we have to worry about the cable installers killing us.
