Father, May I Watch With You?

Continuing on the topic of Lifetime movies (something Jensational and I have previously discussed for days), J mentioned that another of her favorite movies is "Death of a Cheerleader," one of my favorite movies too. If you haven't seen it, you must watch it. I watched it with Dan'l.

Another movie Dan'l and I watched together is "Mother, May I Sleep With Danger" (another great movie). Now I know what you might be thinking, "This child is on the path to show tunes and high heels," but that's not necessarily true. When I started my current job, I had to live with my parents for a couple of months. I had lived apart from my parents for a little more than 10 years and the nest was practically empty so my dad finally got the big TV all to himself. And what did he watch? The Lifetime Channel and the Lifetime Movie Channel. At first I thought he was just channel surfing and became curious, but I was wrong. He was watching a movie. (It's not like he watches Golden Girl marathons all day.) I thought, "Maybe his TV girlfriend, Connie Sellecca, is in that movie." But then I noticed that he watched Lifetime movies pretty often. I mentioned this to Jen and she said that her dad watches Lifetime movies too. Then my co-worker said that he and his dad watch Lifetime movies too.

So next time someone wants to lecture me about taking Dan'l to see "The Devil Wears Prada" or "Dreamgirls," I'll point to our dads, who are pretty manly despite watching Lifetime movies.

That is indeed true. My dad and I watched the Betty Broderick story on Lifetime together. I think he and I also watched the one where Jo from Facts of Life gets stomped and stabbed by her estranged husband. My dad always likes things that are ripped from the headlines.
