During the summer, my employers tried an experiment to help reduce energy consumption at work. They came up with a schedule where we worked nine-hour days and four hours on Fridays. That meant our weekend started at noon on Fridays. We were very excited about this. I thought that I could get so much done on Friday afternoons, go see a newly released movie in an empty theater or go out of town.
At first it was pretty exciting. I went out to lunch with a friend and we went to a buffet and left past 2 p.m. The following weekend I took my son and nephew to see a movie. Then it all went downhill because as soon as I got home, I'd take a nap. I accomplished nothing.
Now I'm wishing I only worked four days a week because I get shopping and chores done on Saturdays. That leaves Sundays for me to rest--in theory. Sunday mornings are sucked up by me because I sleep in and my family. The preacher goes past one hour, so by the time we drive all the way home and I change, it's 1 p.m. There's lunch after that and usually a visit to my mom's house, that never lasts less than two hours. By the time I get home I have time to watch one recorded show and whatever is on Sunday evenings as I iron. I'm exhausted just thinking about it.
If I could do it over, I'd get busy Friday, rest Saturday and willingly give up my Sundays. If only.
Dammit, why does my family like spending time with me?

I've always thought that four day weeks would be best. That way you could run errands on Friday, have fun on Saturday and rest on Sunday.
