When I was in high school, I'd occasionally bump into some poor out of town suckers who spent their spring breaks in Laredo. There was nothing to do in Laredo back then and there still isn't. One think you could do was go across the river to México to drink and get stupid. When I moved to Austin, my friends and I would point and laugh at the ads in the Texan that tried to encourage students to spend their breaks here. Of course, I was and will always be poor so guess where I spent my breaks? At home--where else?
So for those of you who never made it to the border during spring break, here's what you're missing.

That's México on the right.

If only you could understand what a lush and tropical spring break destination Laredo actually is. I'll help you understand: Picture it, St. Louis, 1994. A high school senior with an evil mother must spend the 45 degree days indoors completing a chore list. Her friends are in the Ozards but she has no money so her only fun activity is to see Shindler's List in the theatre with a girl from work.
Makes Laredo look like a tropical paradise. :)
I had the good fortune of going to/through Laredo once. Was with a bunch of friends from college staying with a girl from Kingsville (home of George Strait apparently). We went into Mexico - wow, what fun.
