As I was searching for something to watch on TV yesterday, I came across "Dying to Belong," one of the best worst movies ever. If you've never seen it, and I don't understand how anyone could have missed it, it's about two sorority pledges--one, Shelby Black (Jenna Von Oy) is really excited about joining and will do anything to join and the other, Lisa Connors (Hilary Swank), who they keep reminding us is gorgeous and perfect, only tries out because her mom keeps pushing her into it. Her mom thinks sororities are the only way to survive college. Except Shelby, who according to the sorority chicks has too much body fat to be a sorority girl, really really really wants to belong. Better yet, she's dying to belong. Only she really does die when she falls off a clock tower. The women cover it up and when Mark-Paul Gosselaar tries to get the university folks to admit that she died because of hazing, he gets beaten up and his car trashed. Only after Hilary is kidnapped and dumped in the woods does the mom change her mind about sororities, even though her kidnappers were male. The truth about Jenna's death comes out and the university officials finally admit (after Mark-Paul asks during a press conference even tho Mark-Paul's credentials have been revoked) that yes, she was a victim of hazing.

Why Hilary Swank went to win and Oscar and Jenna Von Oy ended up in "The Pakers" I'll never understand. The acting is wooden and the writing is bad, yet I watch it whenever its on. Maybe it's the actors--Second Becky, Six, Zack and Carrie Brady--but there's just something about this movie that is addictive.

So if you get a chance to watch it, I highly recommend it.

Oh I just love love love this movie. It's one of my top five for sure. I think my favorite is Death of a Cheerleader and then maybe this one and then comes the Betty Broderick story.
