According to this article in USA Today, smart people tend to be poorer than people who are smarter.
I'd like to think that's why my sister owns two cars and her own house and Richard and I rent our house on 1/2 a lot and share one car. I like to take some comfort in what my former editor (who owns a gorgeous house in the right part of town with a pool) told me after I explained that I was the only one of my cousins who was married (or in S's case, living with her female "friend") and didn't own her own house, "But you are still better off because you have a college degree."
Fat lot that helped me when I was working as a receptionist.

Well, I know a lot of dumb people who make more money than me. I think the key to having money is getting a decent paying job right when you graduate and not having student loans. If you have that magical winning combination you're in it to win it.
