Is it fall yet?

The tiny leaves that make my sidewalk slippery (I guess I could sweep them off) tell me fall is near. Officially it was here last month, but I've spent too many Thanksgivings with the AC on to know that South Texas has only two seasons--hot and two freezing days in February.

Always the contrarian, I haven't changed or removed the autumn wreath from my front door my mom gave me last October. Or maybe it's because October is one of my favorite months. It's the month before my birthday, so I try to get away with as many immature things as possible before getting older. Also it's the one time of the year when you can be sure that I'll spend a frantic weekend sewing Daniel's Halloween costume. He hasn't told me what he wants me to make him so I suspect either he's getting too old for costumes, he doesn't want his mom to make him a costume or he wants one that I can't make and thinks I'll veto it.

Now I'm tempted to make a costume for myself, but the part I relish is finding and making a cute costume. Adult costumes are not cute. My other alternative is to make a costume for Mr. Scampers, but like with adult costumes, it's hard to ooh or ah over a retriever in a cape.

Well, what do you think? Either a snail costume for me or Mr. Scampers?

I don't think there's anything cuter than a dog in a costume. I need to buy one for Monkey.
